About the speaker
Dr. Aleš Ugovšek works at the company M SORA d.d. since 2013 as a project manager. Before this he worked as a researcher at the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana at the field of bonding wood and wood composites. His PhD thesis topic was bonding of wood with liquefied wood. His work at the company M SORA is dedicated to European and national development projects with the strong impact on the use of natural materials for windows, the introduction of innovations and collaboration of the industry and scientific organizations. Beside this he take care and participate at the certification of new products, analysis of the thermal characteristics of windows, testing of windows and other development activities in the company. He is coordinator of the European project WINTHERWAX in the scope of Horizon 2020, and head of the European project CaReWood for the partner company M SORA.
M SORA d.d. is a Slovenian producer of timber and timber-aluminium windows with a focus on low-energy windows and elements of large dimensions. The company manufactures custom made products and cooperate with architects to a large extent. M SORA is getting more and more known also abroad. Its products are exported to countries of European Union as well as to the USA, Canada and other countries around the world like Dubai, Libya and New Zealand. M SORA is also known for its development activities, coordination and cooperation in international projects such as ECO-S, WINTHERWAX, CaReWood, ENERGYViLLab and EURL3A. The company received the International Award for the most cost-efficient certified passive timber windows from the German Institute Passivhaus in 2014
