I support Let’s Do It Mediterranean!

On 10-th of May, 2014 the Mediterranean countries join their forces to clean their sea from trash. They are hoping to involve at least 1 million people. Already in September 2013 they are arranging awareness campaigns and small scale clean-ups to draw peoples attention to the problems of the Mediterranean Sea and the Let’s Do It Mediterranean! campaign.

There are 22 different countries around the Mediterranean Sea. They all have different history, culture and languages – but one thing they have in common is the Mediterranean Sea. The sea where plankton already contains around 50% of plastics instead of living organisms. The sea where it rains less then evaporates thus keeping every single peace of trash thrown in the sea captured in the Mediterranean and creating inflow of water from surrounding water bodies. The sea which has been under strong pressure of human civilisation for centuries and millenia.

How can we support and show good examples to all the Mediterranean countries?

  1. Take a trip to the local beach on this weekend (13-15 September 2013)
  2. Gather a bag full of trash (not more than you can carry away)
  3. Make a photo of yourself and the garbage bag
  4. Dispose the garbage properly
  5. Post the photo on Let’s Do It Mediterranean! facebook page with the following text: “I support Let’s Do It Mediterranean! Greetings from Name of your country (name of town/area/beach), Your Name  #letsdoitmediterranean (Example: “I support Let’s Do It Mediterranean! Greetings from Estonia (Tallinn, Stroomi), Helene  #letsdoitmediterranean)
